The Foundation makes grants for two specific purposes:
1) To alleviate fear, pain and suffering of animals and to promote animal protection and the prevention of cruelty to animals, and,
2) To research, promote and document all facets of Texas History.
Since it is able to respond favorably to only a small percentage of applications, the Foundation discourages elaborate and expensive presentations. Applications must be submitted in writing and signed by the chief executive officer of the applicant organization. No faxed or e-mailed proposals will be accepted. Incomplete proposals will be automatically declined. PRIOR to submitting a proposal, the appropriate program director should be contacted.
No grants are made to individuals. Grants are not made for religious purposes or for projects relating to monuments and memorials. Grants are not limited to Texas.
The following elements are required for the application process:
1 |
name of organization, address, phone number, fax number, e-mail, website, and contact person |
2 |
most recent copy of the IRS determination letter which grants the organization 501(c)(3) status |
3 |
the most recent financial statements (audited, if any) |
4 |
the most recent copy of the 990 IRS information return, if any |
5 |
brief history of organization seeking support |
6 |
statement of organizational goals and purposes |
7 |
vitae of key personnel |
8 |
list of board of trustees and officers of the organization |
9 |
detailed description of the project with dollar amount requested |
10 |
budget forecast |
11 |
plan of work to complete the project |
12 |
amount of time needed to complete the project |
If the funding request is not for the entire amount needed for the project, a plan should be included to describe how the project will be completed.
Review Dates: Proposals are reviewed three times a year. There are no deadline dates for receiving proposals. Upon receipt of a proposal, the grant seeker will be notified by the Foundation as to the date the proposal will be reviewed.
All materials submitted to the Foundation, including videos, will be retained in the permanent files of the Foundation. The Foundation investigates and evaluates all projects and often conducts site visits. Written interim reports as well as a final report are required of all grantees. Without a final report, a grantee may not receive future funding.
PRIOR to submitting a proposal, the appropriate program director should be contacted.
